Perhaps the most noticeable difference is its 'kind to skin' properties. It's what makes organic products so soft you just can't take them off, it’s like wearing your PJ’s all day. Nature knows what it's doing, good for you, good for the planet.

There are lots of benefits to using organic materials. It is what makes products stronger, longer lasting, softer and breathable. It's also a material that has huge benefits at an environmental level, boosting biodiversity and soil quality because no nasties are sprayed on the fields. Yet true environmentalism is about more than just what we don't do. At every stage of Hello Old Friends sustainable clothing supply chain, care is taken to make sure that nature thrives. Just standing in an organic cotton field is convincing, it starts with the loud buzz of the insects and the flapping and tweeting of the birdlife that thrives in a more natural environment where our pesticide free organic cotton is grown. And it ends there too, because using natural materials - instead of plastic - means that one day that material will end up back in a natural process. Maybe it'll decompose into plant food, or a home for a woodlouse. That's nature's solution. It means no pollution.

Eight cups a day, for three plus years

If you look at the amount of water it takes to produce one shirt in a ‘business as usual’ scenario it works out around 700 gallons of water. That’s enough for one person to drink at least eight cups per day for three and a half years, according to the World Economic Forum. That’s why the fashion industry is the second largest consumer of water worldwide. But organic farming leads to healthier soil and water. It’s simply more natural, especially if you do it in places that are naturally rainy like Northern India where there are heavy monsoon rains. That’s where the raw material for our items starts out. Using rain well (instead of draining wells) is one of many practical options that makes purchasing organic cotton clothing a valuable sustainable choice.

All natural materials

By 2050, it's estimated that there will be more plastic in the sea than fish. Much of this is in microscopic form, shed when washing clothes. Because our products are made from organic cotton, no microplastics are released when you wash them at home. It's one way we can grow a better future with plants, not plastic.

No animal testing round here

The organic products in our store Hello Old Friend are vegan friendly. They are not tested on animals and do not contain any animal derived content.

Browse our store to see a collection of modern eco friendly fashion that cares for you and the rest of the world.
